On the Radio, talking cheese, seasonal recipes and summer entertaining!

Lately, the talk at the cheese counter has been all about summer entertaining, great summer produce, and picking cheeses to go with salads or to take on a picnic. This week, we’ve got the Di Stefano Burrata in from California, Fresh goat cheeses from Vermont Butter & Cheese Creamery.

On the Radio, we’ve be sharing our love of cheese! This past Friday, July 30th, I was on WOR’s The Joan Hamburg Show, which was broadcast live from the Hamptons Designer Showcase in Sag Harbor! We had so much fun! I walked into a stunning kitchen and placed our cheese platters (one each for hors d’oeurves, a salad course and a dessert course) on a gorgeous marble island counter. Before I knew it, everyone in the room- the crew, Joan’s husband, and the other guests were sampling all the cheeses, before it was time for our segment! Joan and her producer, Natalie couldn’t have been nicer. You can listen to the podcast on the WOR website and hear my interview with Joan, all about the trials and tribulations of managing everything from raising triplets to sourcing and selling my favorite cheeses. Also, my great tips for summer entertaining!

My segment is part of the second hour podcast, about 22 minutes in. Click HERE to listen.

Yesterday, Amy, our manager at the Chelsea Market store was at Roberta’s Pizza in Brooklyn where the Heritage Radio Network is located. On the show ‘Let’s Eat In’ host Cathy Erway sat down with two cheese buyers, Amy and Sergio Hernandez, of BKLYN Larder. See pictures on the Lucy’s Whey Facebook page and listen to the show on the Heritage Radio Network website.

Last Month, both Lucy and Amy appeared together on another Heritage Radio Network show, Hot Grease, listen to our first radio appearanceĀ here: Hot Grease – Episode 36 – Lucy’s Whey & Food Culture Films with Joe York

The Renaissance Ricotta from Naragansett Creamery is the ideal match for garden/farmers market tomatoes. Try this combination on crusty county bread with a splash of olive oil and sea salt.

Hope to see you at the cheese counter soon (East Hampton or Chelsea Market!)….come in to swap summer recipes, taste new cheeses and stock up for your picnics and dinner parties! Happy Summer entertaining!
